Letting you borrow their clothes during a I-have-nothing-to-wear-crisis? Yes. Taking you out for drinks when you’ve had a my-boss-didn’t-consider-me-for-the-promotion-bad day? Yes. Playing a part in introducing you to cute new friends? Definitely.

The game of six degrees of separation came to a close for Scottie and Elizabeth in 2005, when Scottie was visiting a friend in Dallas. That friend just so happened to be dating a friend of Elizabeth’s…ah fate!

When the two met wedding bells weren’t immediately clamoring, “It wasn’t love at first sight but it didn’t take long,” said Elizabeth.

Scottie soon returned to Florida leaving the two connected through the social website, Myspace. After weeks of “you’ve got mails” the two reunited when Elizabeth visited him in Florida. The visit solidified their feelings towards one another and a long distance relationship ensued for the next 6 months. Upon his graduation, Scottie packed his Volkswagon GTI with his belongings and hit the road for Texas.

After 5 years of dating Scottie proposed on November 4, 2011. The two exchanged vows almost 7 months later, on May 21, 2011 in a stylish wedding that mixed modern motifs with a vintage vibe.

The perfect wedding in 7 months is a timeframe any planner would raise an eyebrow at, but the couple managed to pull it off because they knew exactly what they wanted. “It was a short engagement because we knew we wanted an ‘Oak Cliff Wedding’ (Oak Cliff is our neighborhood in Dallas) in the Spring, so we had to work quickly. We really wanted to use as many local Oak Cliff vendors as possible,” said Elizabeth.

Dirt Design Studio (an Oak Cliff based florist in the Bishop Arts District) was a one-stop-shop for the couple, using their flowers, cake balls, mini wedding cake and photography.

Married at the Belmont Hotel, a renovated 1930s motor inn, the couple treated their guests (mainly comprised of close family and friends) to an “Oak Cliff” wedding complete with co-Best Man and co-Matron of Honor, Sunni and Cooper. Cooper (top), Sunni (bottom)

Every good Texas celebration has to have delicious food, and Elizabeth and Scottie made sure their wedding was no exception. The couple served a variety of hors d’oeuvres from Smoke restaurant, in Oak Cliff. These southern-styled selections were served in place of the more traditional buffet or formal dinner.

Memories were captured as guests lined up to use photobooth, and danced the night away to a mix of 60s, 70s, 80s & Indie Rock. “It definitely wasn’t the typical wedding music you hear, but it was very us,” said Elizabeth.

Once the sun set, Chinese lanterns were lit and sent off into the night sky. A symbol of hope and good wishes, it was a perfect way to end the night, and a perfect way to start a new life together.All of us at Bella Bleu congratulate the happy couple and thank them for sharing their special day with us!
