Bridal Brooches

Bring on the drama!

With wedding season beginning to kick into high gear, one thing is certainly clear…2012 is the year of opulence! Weddings are turning away from simple gatherings, and are turning up the volume into extravagant affairs. This year, seemingly little details (mini dessert tables, unique and personalized wedding favors, bridal footwear) play a much larger importance in making the day truly special. Bright colors like lime green, hot pink, royal blue, and orange are heating up summer weddings all across the country. Not to be overshadowed, brides are turning to more embellished dresses and glamorous accessories to really shine on their big day.

Bejeweled accessories are a great way for brides to add dramatic details to their wedding look. While jeweled details are available in virtually every accessory from head-to-toe, brooches are the jeweled star this season as they make a huge comeback. These vintage inspired sparklers are being worn on everything from bouquets to sashes to shoes! Some brides even use brooches to glamorize their invitations and add sparkle to their table settings! One of the most popular brooch trends is incorporating it into wedding day hair. Brooches give any bridal hair style a polished finish while adding a little more sparkle. Brooches are a timeless accessory, and however they are incorporated into a wedding will be classically beautiful.

Brooches are not the only dramatic accessories popular this season. Traditional veils have been replaced by vintage-inspired pieces like birdcage veils, feather fascinators, and flowers. All these pieces add modern opulence and glamour that are sometimes not seen in traditional veils. Feather fascinators have been rapidly gaining popularity since the royal wedding last spring, and have only gotten larger and more detailed since the event. Birdcage veils and flowers are both dramatic alternatives to brides not wanting a traditional veil, and are a great addition to any bridal look.

So throw away the old saying “less is more” and pile on the glitz and glamour this season when planning your wedding! To achieve a dramatic-vintage look, try adding an unexpected accessory like a brooch or non-traditional veil to make your look unforgettable.

Until next time: keep calm and wear something sparkly!
